4 good reasons to organize your wedding in a castle

On an estate, a renovated barn, a banquet hall, a manor, a park... You don't know where to turn when it comes to choosing your future wedding venue? Don't panic, we know exactly what you need!

In this article, we give you 4 good reasons to organize your wedding in a castle.

1) Traveling in a fairy tale

Choosing the castle is choosing to escape from your daily life to make your wedding a memorable moment, beyond time and routine. Generally preserved in their period appearance, castles have the ability to amaze both the couple and the guests with a charm that today is mostly found in works of fiction. Large drawing rooms, ballrooms, parks, and gardens, the castle brings to your wedding all the imagination of fairy tales and takes you to the land of embodied romance. A pause in reality, you become the main characters of a story that unfolds over the course of a day, or a weekend.

In Poudenas, the story takes place in Tuscany, Italy, during the Renaissance: white stone arcades, tall cypresses dotting the estate, balconies overlooking a green valley, and garlands of lights resembling a second starry sky... Romance does not settle in our castle; it embodies it and offers you a simply magical celebration.

2) A setting that anchors your union in History

A castle is also a piece of History: each stone tells an event, each tree has witnessed the long and beautiful history of the place being written. Choosing to get married in a castle is choosing to leave your mark in the history of a monument that is several centuries old, and deciding to anchor your union there as if to wish it to last as long as the stones of the building.

In Poudenas, our castle dates back to the 13th century and has witnessed hundreds of years of history without ever falling: the Hundred Years' War, the siege of the Black Prince, the French Revolution, the Second World War... and yet a building still proudly standing on its rocky spur, overlooking the Gélise valley. Classified as a Historic Monument, our castle whispers its history to you through its walls, its paintings, its windows, its doors... So that forever in your photos, one can read your story and its own, intertwined for the span of a day.

3) Memorable photoshoots

What will remain of your union, if not your memories and the photos that help preserve them? Photos are the story you will tell your loved ones tomorrow, next year, and even in twenty years. And isn't a story more interesting to tell when it takes place in an exceptional setting? The sumptuous setting of a castle honors the significance of the wedding day, both emotionally and in terms of the experience itself. The photos become pictorial works, placing you as the characters of a story. Since the castle is an architectural work, the possibilities for framing your photos are endless!

At the Château de Poudenas, every place is perfect for taking photos that convey the strength of your love and your personality as a couple: run through the park carefree, dance and laugh under the stars, gracefully go down the stairs, exchange tender looks stronger than words, or slip away into the intimacy of the night to capture romantic moments... One place, millions of different shots!

4) Large spaces to host your union

The last major advantage of castles is their size: to accommodate all of your guests without feeling cramped, it is the perfect solution: large green spaces to host your ceremonies, cocktails, and dinners, reception rooms as a backup plan in case of unpredictable weather... without ever having to sacrifice the beauty of the setting, since it is present everywhere.

At the Château de Poudenas, the possibilities are endless: we have numerous spaces to accommodate you, whether you are 50 or more than 300. An additional advantage: the estate is large enough to be able to organize everything on site, even the religious ceremony!

  • Saint-Antoine Church is located on the north esplanade and allows for a smooth transition from a ceremony to a cocktail reception. Prefer a secular ceremony? The north esplanade is a superb playground to organize it, whether in front of the church or near the enclosure.

  • For a spectacular cocktail, choose the south esplanade: by the pool, overlooking the Gélise valley, it is our favorite spot. The iconic south facade makes you experience a moment of weightlessness, out of time...

  • For a dinner under the stars, the main courtyard is made for you: host up to 600 people banquet-style, and eat all together under a sky of 'guinguette' string lights for even more magic.

  • If the weather turns bad or you prefer the comfort of indoor spaces, our 5 enfilade rooms will allow you to welcome all your guests without fearing to break the friendly atmosphere. Stables, billiard room, living room, bureau, guard room, host up to 500 people simultaneously within our walls... explore our spaces and discover their charm!

  • For a cocktail at a height, the terraces will be perfect: host up to 200 people to enjoy a breathtaking view of the south esplanade and the entire Gascon landscape, with the possibility of retreating to the living room if rain sets in.
