You generally know us as a place with two hats: in high season, a wedding venue; in low season, a place for professional events. But did you know we have a third side? We also welcome vacationers looking to rent our cottages, without the reception areas!
In this article, we explain why our castle is THE perfect vacation destination for you and your loved ones, all year round!
1) Far from everything, close to everything
In Poudenas, you get a break from it all: nature, Gascon landscapes, birdsong, the locals’ accent, and no city clutter. The nearest “big” town, Nérac, has just over 7,000 people. It’s the perfect setting to escape for a few days in a green haven, far from everyday worries.
That said, the castle's location lets you quickly reconnect with big urban areas: equidistant from Bordeaux, Toulouse, and Pau, you can reach any of these three cities in less than two hours. Easy to plan a little one-day city trip or even get back home (train stations and airports are accessible)!
Moreover, this relative proximity to major cities and this central geographic location make Poudenas the perfect place to bring loved ones together, sometimes scattered across the Southwest: here nobody is left out, everyone has about a two-hour drive to meet up with family in a magical setting. Perfect for big reunions!

3) Space for everyone, whether you're two or more
Five: that's the number of cottages the castle will have starting September 2026. Fifty-four: that's the number of people we’ll be able to host on our site. Plenty of room for big families, the ones who love each other but don’t know how to find a place to stay without having to travel miles to be together.
Here, the problem doesn’t arise: our lodgings are real houses, all close to each other, independent, and fully equipped, which we let you use so you can feel at home. Poudenas is a family castle, so we aim to pass on that family spirit!

4) A magical place, no matter the season
Au château, une multitude d'activités s'offrent à vous, et ce peu importe la saison. At the castle, a whole bunch of activities are available to you, no matter the season.
In spring, life comes back to life, the air is pleasant, the park is green, and the birds return to nest among the branches and stones. The perfect time for a game of golf, tennis, Molkky, rugby, or even a bike ride. It's the time to enjoy the mild outdoors while staying active!
In the summer, the castle is bathed in sunlight. The stones sparkle, the days get longer, and the heat makes you crave some coolness: and you find it! You can enjoy our three swimming pools, including one on the south terrace with views of the village and the hills of the Gélise Valley. Soak up the sun on one of our lounge chairs, and take a well-deserved nap by the water.
In the fall, the castle takes on shades of ochre and gold. The trees change color, the air gets colder, and we pull little sweaters over our shoulders in the evening. It's the perfect time for a walk in the park or a hike through woods and trails, to hear the crunch of leaves underfoot and the wind rustling through the ones still hanging on the trees.
In winter, the weather makes you want to curl up in front of a fireplace, which you can find in plenty in the cottages: the old castle stones create a timeless atmosphere, the sofas get cozier, stories are told by the fire, and if you dig through our cupboards you'll find plenty of board games to keep having fun together.
So you can enjoy the castle all year round!
